This is the Shotgun Magazine Plug, turned wood, 6-5/8″ overall with a .737″ diameter head, for 12, 16 and 20 gauge magazine tubes. Being wood, it can be cut shorter to suit your gun.
Head diameter, not length, is what decides which magazine tubes a plug will enter — length only decides how many shells it displaces once it’s in there. At .737″ this is the narrower of the two common wood plug sizes, which is why it reaches down to 20 gauge where a 12 gauge-only plug will not start into the tube.

Fits:
- 12 gauge pump and semi-automatic shotguns with a magazine tube that accepts a .737″ head
- 20 gauge pump and semi-automatic shotguns in the same tube range
- 16 gauge pump and semi-automatic shotguns
- Guns needing 6-5/8″ or less of magazine fill to reach a three-shell total — cut to length as required
Does not fit:
- .410 magazine tubes — smaller inside diameter than this plug will enter
- Guns needing more than 6-5/8″ of fill; it can be shortened but not lengthened. A longer plug is the answer there, not this one
Fitting: Remove the magazine cap and spring retainer, drop the plug into the tube, then reinstall the spring and follower. If it needs shortening, measure against your magazine first, cut the plain end with a fine-tooth saw, and sand the cut square so it seats flat against the follower. Load dummy rounds and confirm the gun holds no more than two in the magazine plus one in the chamber before hunting over it.
