This is the Crescent Locking Bolt for Crescent and American Gun Company double-barrel shotguns, the variation with a square notch.
Crescent Fire Arms of Norwich, Connecticut built inexpensive double guns from the 1890s into the 1930s, and sold them under an enormous number of hardware-store and retailer names — American Gun Company and H. & D. Folsom among them. Because so many of these guns carry trade names rather than the maker’s name, parts are matched by measurement and shape rather than by model.
Variations exist. This bolt has a square, right-angled shoulder at the notch. Another has a sloped shoulder at that point and is listed separately, as is a shorter bolt. The two are close in overall length, so match on the shoulder shape rather than on length — compare against the one in your gun before ordering.

Fitting: The locking bolt engages the lump on the barrels to hold the action closed. This is a fitted part and should be fitted by a gunsmith. A worn or incorrectly fitted bolt shows up as an action that is loose off the face, opens under recoil, or will not close fully. After fitting, check with the gun empty that the barrels lock up tight with no play at the breech before loading.

Condition: Used locking bolt in bare gray steel with mottled darker patches and original machining marks across the body. Light surface staining, with no rust or pitting. The notch edges are square and crisp with no chipping, the milled slot is clean, and the body is true with no bends.
