This is the Mossberg Angle Bar R494, factory part 494, for the Model 353 and 353K, the New Haven 453 and 453T, and the AIG/US Arms PMA-1 and PMA-1P.
Mossberg dropped the letter prefix from these numbers over time. The same part prints as R494 in the 1960s listings and as a bare 494 in the factory’s 1983 Component Parts Catalog — one part, two ways of writing it, which matters if you are working from an older parts sheet and searching for a number that seems not to exist.

The factory printed the 353 and 453 as a two-column parts list and gave 494 in both columns. The PMA-1 list in the same catalog gives 494 as well, so one angle bar covers all three guns.
Trade crossover records also give the Western Field 828, 850 and 855 and the Western Auto 125 as the Model 353. We have not confirmed those against a factory parts page.
Does not fit:
- 385K, 390KA and 395K bolt-action shotguns and their New Haven 485 and 495 equivalents — those use angle bar 1591
- 340B, 340B-A, 340K and 341 — those use angle bar 1184
Fitting: Secured by angle bar screw 495, which carries the same number across all of these guns.

Condition: Used, excellent. Nearly all original blue remains, with light thinning on the high edges of the bend and a few faint handling marks on the flat. No rust, no pitting. Both screw holes are clean and unelongated, the bend is sharp and true, and the arm is straight with no twist.
