This is the Mossberg Magazine Latch for the Mossberg 185, 190 and 195 bolt-action shotguns and the New Haven shotguns built on the same action.
Mossberg built this family in three gauges — the 185 in 20, the 190 in 16 and the 195 in 12, the last two being the company’s first shotguns in those gauges. All of them feed from a detachable box magazine, which is what this latch retains. New Haven is Mossberg’s economy brand, so the 285, 290 and 295 are the same guns under a different rollmark and take the same part.

Fitting: The magazine latch holds the detachable box magazine in the receiver. A worn, bent or weak latch shows up as a magazine that drops free under recoil, seats but will not lock, or has to be forced to release. After installation, check with the gun empty that the magazine seats fully, locks without play, and releases cleanly when the latch is worked.

Condition: Used magazine latch with most of its dark finish intact, showing lighter gray wear along the raised edges and across the thumbpiece. The serrations on the thumbpiece are sharp and complete, the spring arm is straight with no bends or kinks, and the mounting holes are clean with no elongation or cracking at the corners.
