This is the Shotgun Magazine Plug, turned wood, 5-1/2″ overall with a .720″ diameter stepped head, for 12, 16 and 20 gauge magazine tubes. Being wood, it can be cut shorter to suit your gun.
At 5-1/2″ this is a short plug, which suits a shorter magazine or a gun that only needs a shell or two taken out of it. A plug that is too long will not let the magazine close up; a plug that is too short leaves the gun over the legal limit. Measure the fill your magazine needs before ordering, since this one can be shortened but not lengthened.

Fits:
- 12 gauge pump and semi-automatic shotguns with a magazine tube that accepts a .720″ head
- 20 gauge pump and semi-automatic shotguns in the same tube range
- 16 gauge pump and semi-automatic shotguns
- Guns needing 5-1/2″ or less of magazine fill to reach a three-shell total — cut to length as required
Identifying features: Squared step at the head with a shallow groove behind it, tapering into a body that rounds off at the far end. The narrowest head of the wood plugs we carry.
Does not fit:
- .410 magazine tubes — smaller inside diameter than this plug will enter
- Guns needing more than 5-1/2″ of fill; a longer plug is the answer there, not this one
Fitting: Remove the magazine cap and spring retainer, drop the plug into the tube, then reinstall the spring and follower. If it needs shortening, cut the rounded end with a fine-tooth saw and sand it square so it seats flat against the follower. Load dummy rounds and confirm the gun holds no more than two in the magazine plus one in the chamber before hunting over it.
