Description
The Spyderco Assist Lightweight (model C79PSBBK) is a purpose-built 3.69″ folding knife designed for emergency, fire, and rescue professionals who need a tool that performs when it counts. Its high-performance VG-10 stainless steel blade carries a non-reflective black DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) coating and a part-serrated edge optimized to power through rope, webbing, and seatbelt materials.
Deployment is fast and one-handed via the blade’s thumb hole opener. The blade features a patented blunt, lift-and-pry tip shaped for safety and control in rescue scenarios. An integrated carbide glass breaker at the handle’s butt end is built for emergency egress through laminated glass, and a built-in survival whistle in the flared handle adds a critical signaling option for first responders.
The black textured FRN (Fiberglass Reinforced Nylon) handle scales provide a confident grip in wet, cold, or gloved hands. At just 4 oz, the Assist Lightweight carries comfortably all day, with a 4.81″ closed length and an 8.44″ overall open length. A pocket clip supports convenient everyday carry.
Whether you are a first responder, an everyday carrier, or simply want a well-built rescue folder in your kit, the Spyderco Assist Lightweight delivers the cutting performance, integrated safety features, and lightweight carry that have made it a long-standing favorite of the rescue community.
