The optical system features Steiner’s Diamond Coat lens treatment for enhanced light transmission and image clarity, paired with a Fast-Close Focus wheel that lets you snap from distant terrain to close-in detail in a single smooth motion. The center focus design keeps operation intuitive when you’re glassing a ridge line or trying to identify a buck in heavy cover.
The housing is built around a Black Makrolon polycarbonate chassis wrapped in a textured Rubber Armor exterior that absorbs impact and provides a secure grip in cold or wet conditions. The 8x magnification and 42mm objective pair up to produce a wide 375 ft field of view at 1000 yds, while the 5.25mm exit pupil keeps the image bright in low light. Short focus reaches down to 6.6 ft for close-range observation.
Nitrogen-purged and sealed against the elements, the Predator 8×42 is rated fogproof and waterproof to handle rain, snow, and rapid temperature swings. At just 26.60 oz, it is light enough for all-day carry on a neck strap or in a pack, and Steiner includes a protective carry case for transport.
