Description
The Weatherby Vanguard Obsidian is a bolt-action hunting and varmint rifle chambered in 22-250 Rem, built around a blued stainless steel receiver that is drilled and tapped for scope mounting. Part of Weatherby’s workhorse Vanguard line, the Obsidian pairs the platform’s SUB-MOA accuracy guarantee with a weather-resistant synthetic stock – a practical, no-frills package built for the field.
The 24-inch cold hammer-forged barrel is finished in matte blued with a 2 contour profile and threaded at the muzzle for suppressor or muzzle brake installation. Cycling is handled by a classic bolt action feeding a detachable box magazine, giving a total working capacity of 5+1 rounds of 22-250 Rem. A 1:12″ twist stabilizes the full range of bullet weights commonly used for varmint and predator hunting. No iron sights are installed – the receiver is set up from the factory for optic mounting.
The rifle wears a black Monte Carlo synthetic stock that shrugs off weather and keeps overall weight down, with an overall length of 44 inches and a total weight of just 7.50 lbs. The action features Weatherby’s adjustable two-stage match trigger for a clean, crisp pull, and a 3-position safety allows the shooter to safely unload the chamber with the bolt closed.
