This is the Remington Forend Hanger, late variation, for the Remington 552 Speedmaster and 572 Fieldmaster .22 rifles.
Remington used two forend hangers across these rifles. The late variation runs the threaded stud straight off the body with no collar beneath it; the early variation has a raised circular collar. They are not interchangeable. The early type covers 572 production from January 1955 through 1957 and the pre-grade 552 Speedmaster through April 1957, with the late type used thereafter. Check the date code stamped on the barrel, or compare against the part in your rifle, before ordering.

Fitting: The hanger threads into the magazine tube assembly and carries the forend. Check that the threads run clean and that the forend seats without rocking or side play once tightened.

Condition: Used forend hanger retaining nearly all of its dark blue-black finish, with light gray wear on the raised edges and flat faces. External threads are complete and undamaged, the internal threads at the base of the bore are clean and full, the body is square with no burring at the corners, and the bore is clear.
