- Additional information
This is the Winchester Adjusting Sleeve Lock for the Winchester Model 1897 pump shotgun.
The 1897 was John Browning’s design and Winchester’s first successful hammer pump gun, built from 1897 until 1957 in both takedown and solid frame versions. Around a million were made, and the takedown guns are the ones with the adjusting sleeve this part locks.
Included: One of the adjusting sleeve locks pictured. Sold individually.
Fits:
- Winchester Model 1897, takedown
Fitting: The adjusting sleeve lock holds the adjusting sleeve at its setting, which is what keeps the barrel and magazine assembly tight to the receiver on a takedown gun. A worn or incorrectly fitted lock shows up as a sleeve that shifts out of adjustment, or a barrel that works loose in use. After installation, check with the gun empty that the sleeve holds its setting and the barrel assembly seats tight with no play before loading.
Please note: Buyer is responsible for verifying correct fit for their specific firearm. Installation should be performed by a qualified gunsmith. Please review all photos, as they are part of the description and show the actual item you will receive.
Condition: Used adjusting sleeve locks in a gray steel finish with darker patches of remaining bluing. Wear shows as light mottling and surface staining across the flats, with no rust or pitting. The recesses are clean, the notched shoulders are square and complete with no chipping, and both are true with no bends.
