This is the J.C. Higgins Forearm Assembly, part 470M, with the 398 trigger guard retaining screw, for the Sears Model 29, 30, 31 and 36 .22 semi-automatic rifles made by High Standard.
Sears sold the 470 forearm as the 470M assembly together with the 399 nut that the trigger guard retaining screw threads into. The 470M replaced the earlier 397M long forearm used on the 1950–52 Model 30.
Included: 470M forearm assembly (470 forearm with 399 nut) and 398 trigger guard retaining screw, the exact parts pictured. The 323 forearm retaining screw is not included.

Does not fit:
- Model 31, 583.3100: uses forearm assembly 4060
- Ted Williams Model 34: uses forearm 3416 / assembly 3483 (the 398 screw is the same part)
- Model 33 and 35 pump rifles: forearms 4017 and 3512
- Model 25 and High Standard Sport-King rifles
Fitting: Sears did not mark either part for gunsmith fitting. Match the Sears model number stamped on the left side of the barrel.

Condition: Used walnut forearm with the finish in good shape, showing light handling marks, a few small dings and scratches, and some wear along the edges. There’s one chip on the inside edge at the front of the ejection port area, shown by the arrow in the photos. There are no cracks.
