Description
- Additional information
This is the Lee Enfield Sear Spring for the SMLE No.1 Mk III and the No.4 .303 rifles.
The No.1 Mk III entered service in 1907 and the No.4 replaced it as the British service rifle in 1941, but the Lee action carried across both, and the same sear spring serves each. Between them these two rifles armed British and Commonwealth forces through both world wars.
Included: Sear spring only, the exact part pictured.
Fits:
- Lee Enfield SMLE No.1 Mk III and No.1 Mk III*
- Lee Enfield No.4, all marks
Fitting: The sear spring holds the sear against the cocking piece and returns the trigger. A weak, sprung or incorrectly seated spring shows up as a trigger that fails to reset, a light or creeping release, or a rifle that will not hold at cock. This is a fire control part and should be fitted by a gunsmith. After installation, function check with dummy rounds or an empty chamber before loading: verify it cocks and holds, that the trigger releases cleanly and resets, that the safety holds, and that closing and working the bolt does not release the sear.
Please note: Buyer is responsible for verifying correct fit for their specific firearm. Installation should be performed by a qualified gunsmith. Please review all photos, as they are part of the description and show the actual item you will receive.
Condition: Used sear spring in a dark gray steel finish, with fine machining marks visible across the leaf faces and light darkening along the edges. No rust, pitting or cracking. The leaves are evenly formed with a clean radius at the bend, the tip is complete, and the spring holds its shape with no signs of having taken a set.
