Description
- Additional information
This is the Remington 11-48 recoil spring cap, factory part 17500, the early 12 gauge type.
Remington’s recoil system chart splits these guns by serial number. Part 17500 covers first-production 12 gauge only. Later 12 gauge guns take 21085 in the same position, and 16 and 20 gauge guns take 17526. Check your serial before ordering.
The 11-48 and Sportsman 48 are the same shotgun with different magazine capacity, so each carries its own serial range.
Included: Recoil spring cap only, the exact part pictured.
Fits:
- Remington 11-48, 12 gauge, serials 5,000,001 to 5,026,000
- Remington Sportsman 48, 12 gauge, serials 3,000,001 to 3,027,000
Does not fit:
- Later 12 gauge guns, which take part 21085
- 16 and 20 gauge guns, which take part 17526
- Remington Model 11 and the Browning Auto-5
Fitting: Confirm the recoil spring is retained and the cap seats square before the gun is used.
Please note: Buyer is responsible for verifying correct fit for their specific firearm. Installation should be performed by a qualified gunsmith. Please review all photos, as they are part of the description and show the actual item you will receive.
Condition: Even grey overall with a dull matte surface and no remaining bright finish. Light scattered surface oxidation with a few darker patches, no active rust, pitting or scaling. Turned machining marks are visible around the full circumference on both the outer wall and the interior. The ring is round and true with no distortion or out-of-round. Edges and the internal step are cleanly formed with no burring, chipping or peening. Light handling marks only. No cracks, splits or repairs.
