This is the Remington 11-48 friction piece, factory part 20535, 12 gauge, in bronze.
The 11-48 is a long-recoil gun descended from Browning’s design by way of the Model 11 — the barrel and bolt travel rearward together on firing, and the friction system on the magazine tube controls how hard they come back. Remington changed the recoil spring and ring three times across the production run, but the friction piece stayed 20535 throughout, so it fits any 12 gauge 11-48 or Sportsman 48 regardless of serial number.

Does not fit 16 or 20 gauge guns, which take 20536.
Fitting: The friction system is what makes a long-recoil gun cycle. Keep the magazine tube lightly oiled — too much oil is as bad as too little.

Condition: Used. Even brown patina across the surface. Light handling marks, no cracks or splits. Ring true and round with no distortion, split ends square and unspread. Bearing surfaces smooth with no scoring or galling.
