Additional information

This is the Mossberg Cartridge Stop Spring, part no. R241, for the Mossberg 45, 46, 146 and 346 tube-fed .22 rifles and the New Haven built on the same action.

This part had a long service life at Mossberg. It carries from the 45 and 46 of the prewar years through the 146 and on to the 346, which ran until 1972 — roughly three decades of tube-fed .22 production on one spring. New Haven is Mossberg’s economy brand, so the 246K is the 346 under a different rollmark and takes the same part.

Included: One of the springs pictured. Sold individually.

Fits:

Mossberg 346B, 346BA, 346BB, 346K, 346KA, 346KB
Mossberg 46B, 46B(a), 46B(b), 46M, 46M(a), 46M(b)
Mossberg 45A, 45B
Mossberg 146B, 146BA
New Haven 246K

Fitting: The cartridge stop spring tensions the cartridge stop, which holds rounds in the magazine tube and releases them one at a time as the bolt cycles. A spring that has taken a set or lost tension shows up as two rounds released at once, a round that fails to release at all, or cartridges hanging up at the carrier. After installation, cycle dummy rounds through a full magazine by hand and confirm one round feeds per stroke before firing.

Please note: Buyer is responsible for verifying correct fit for their specific firearm. Installation should be performed by a qualified gunsmith. Please review all photos, as they are part of the description and show the actual item you will receive.

Condition: Used springs with a mottled gray steel surface and darker patches of remaining finish. Both are flat with no twisting, the curves match, and the open slots and pivot holes are clean with no cracking or distortion at the ends.
