This is the Smith & Wesson Hand, three-pin style marked S, for K frame double-action revolvers of post-1944 production.
The third pin, in the middle of the hand, is the bolt block pin. It was added to block the bolt’s forward movement so the cylinder would not open under the recoil of Magnum loads. Two-pin and three-pin hands are generally interchangeable in K frames of similar eras, so if your gun currently has a two-pin hand this one will usually serve — but compare against the part in your revolver before ordering.

Fitting: The hand rotates the cylinder as the trigger is pulled, and Smith & Wesson hands are fitted parts rather than drop-in replacements — expect a gunsmith to fit this one to your gun. A hand that is short, worn or incorrectly fitted shows up as a cylinder that fails to carry up and lock before the hammer falls, which can put a chamber out of line with the barrel. After fitting, check carry-up on every chamber in both single and double action, slowly and at speed, with the gun empty before loading.

Condition: Used hands in a silver steel finish, with original machining marks visible across the flats and the S marking legible on each. Wear shows as light darkening and scattered specks, with no rust or pitting. All three pins are intact and firmly seated, the bodies are true with no bends, and the tips are complete with no chipping or rounding.
