This is the MM98 Mauser Bolt Sleeve with Lock, the rear bolt cap that houses the firing pin spring and gas shield, along with the bolt sleeve lock — the mechanism Mauser added to the M98 design that reduces firing pin travel and lock time compared to earlier Mauser actions.
Note: aftermarket sporterized shrouds, which typically omit the military safety, are a different design and not interchangeable with this military-pattern part.
Included: One bolt sleeve with lock, the part pictured. Bolt body, handle, and extractor not included.
Fits:
- German M98/K98 Mauser rifle, large-ring action
Does not fit: Small-ring M98 actions — these use a smaller-diameter bolt sleeve.

Condition: Bright blued finish, largely intact, with light edge wear on the safety-lug ear, the rear flange and the thread crests. The bolt sleeve lock plunger shows wear on its exposed end but springs back properly. The threads are complete and undamaged, the part is straight, and it is stamped 9693 on the rear flange.
