Description
- Additional information
This Mossberg 500 trigger is the fire control component that pivots in the trigger housing to release the sear. Factory part 7263.
Mossberg introduced the 500 in 1961 and has built it continuously since, past eleven million guns. This is the later trigger, used across the 12 and 20 gauge guns — field, trap, Persuader and Cruiser variants alike. Early production used a different trigger, and so does the .410 throughout its run.
Included: One trigger, the exact part pictured.
Fits, 12 and 20 gauge:
- Mossberg 500 field and trap models
- Mossberg 500 Persuader, blued
- Mossberg 500 Cruiser, blued
- New Haven 600AT, 600AST, 600CT and 600CST
Does not fit: early production guns, which use 1577; any .410, which also uses 1577; nickel-finish guns, which use 7684; or parkerized guns, which use 7262. Finish matters here — a nickel or parkerized Persuader takes its own trigger, not this one. Compare against the trigger you are removing before ordering.
Fitment and safety: This is a fire control part. Trigger and sear engagement determines whether the gun fires when it should and, more importantly, whether it fires when it should not. Have a qualified gunsmith fit this and function-check the trigger group before the gun is loaded. If the hammer follows the bolt, if the trigger fails to reset, or if the gun fires on closing the action, stop immediately and do not shoot it.
Please note: Buyer is responsible for verifying correct fit for their specific firearm. Installation should be performed by a qualified gunsmith. Please review all photos, as they are part of the description and show the actual item you will receive.
Condition: Blued finish largely intact, thinning to gray along the high edges and showing a light polish on the face of the trigger finger from use. No rust and no pitting — the only other marks are a small dark spot on the upper arm and fine factory tooling lines. Both pin holes are round and unelongated, the small round boss at the top rear is full and undamaged, and the part is flat and true with no rounding or peening visible on the upper engagement tab. Sear engagement can’t be judged from a photograph, so this one wants a gunsmith’s inspection and a full function check before live fire.
