This is the Remington rear sight base, factory part 14237, with windage screw 14240.
These are Remington’s value-priced models — the 788, built to compete with Savage on price alongside the Model 700, and the Sportsman series sold through mass merchandisers. Rather than tooling a sight for each, Remington fitted the 788 pattern across the line, which is why one base covers so many models.
Included: Base and windage screw, the exact parts pictured.
Dimensions: .170″ high, .562″ hole spacing.

Does not fit the Model 580, 581 or 582. Those rimfires were patterned after the 788 and share its bolt design, but they take a different rear sight.
Fitting: Have a qualified gunsmith fit this if you are not comfortable doing so yourself.

Condition:
Used. Grey steel with most of the finish worn away, darker in the recesses. Light handling marks, no rust or pitting. Base flat and true with no bends. Screw holes clean with threads undamaged. Dovetail and step at the front end sound, no burring or peening. See photos.
