This is the S&W K L N Frame Sear, part 7039, stainless, new and unfitted.
Smith and Wesson cataloged sears by finish as well as frame size. This is the stainless part, correct for stainless revolvers that left the factory with a stainless sear. If your revolver is blued, part 5113 is the correct number.
Included: Sear only, the exact part pictured. No fitting or filing marks — you start from a known factory surface rather than guessing how much material a previous gunsmith removed.
Fits:
- K frame, 1957 to 1988 — Models 64, 65, 66, 67 and similar
- L frame, 1980 to 1988 — Models 681, 686
- N frame, 1954 to 1988
Does not fit:
J frame revolvers. The small frame uses its own sear, part 7088 in stainless and 5317 in blued.
Post-1988 production. Smith and Wesson changed the fire control parts after that year across every frame size, so a revolver built in 1990 will not take this sear regardless of frame.
Victory Model and earlier revolvers. The hammer block was redesigned in 1944 after a wartime accident, and the hammer and sear on either side of that change are not the same part.
Fitting: This is a fire control part and should be fit by a qualified gunsmith. Pull the side plate and compare the nose, the holes and the overall profile against the sear in your revolver before installing. Once assembled, function check on an empty gun before loading: confirm the hammer holds at full cock, that it does not drop when the frame is bumped, that the trigger returns fully and the cylinder carries up and locks on every chamber in both single and double action. Watch for push-off at full cock. Do not load the revolver until it passes.

Condition: New old stock, in the original stainless finish with the machining marks from manufacture still visible on the flats. No rust, pitting or chips. No fitting or filing marks. Engagement surfaces are crisp with no rounding or peening. Holes are round with clean bore walls. Flat and true. Carries the Smith and Wesson stamp on the side.
