Description
- Additional information
This is the Mauser K98k rear sight spring, stamped with the eagle over WaA63.
WaA63 is one of the more useful codes to find on a part because the inspector moved. It is recorded at Mauser Werke Oberndorf am Neckar during the 1930s, on S/42-coded production, then reappears from 1941 to 1945 in service at Brno, on K98k and G33/40 work. The same number therefore points to two different plants depending on the period of the rifle it came from.
The eagle above the number is the acceptance stamp proper, written by collectors as e/63. Unmarked and post-war replacement springs are common and will function, but they do nothing for a rifle being put back to correct configuration.
Included: Rear sight spring only, the exact part pictured.
Fits:
- Mauser K98k
Compare against: other 98-pattern rifles, including the Czech vz.24 and the Yugoslav M48, carry rear sights of broadly similar layout. We have not confirmed this spring against any of them, so match on features before ordering.
Fitting: Rear sight work should be done by a gunsmith. Confirm the slide indexes positively at each range setting once fitted.
Please note: Buyer is responsible for verifying correct fit for their specific firearm. Installation should be performed by a qualified gunsmith. Please review all photos, as they are part of the description and show the actual item you will receive.
Condition: Pre-WWII drooped eagle WaA63 MAUSER Oberndorf inspection mark – Light finish wear and no significant blemishes
