This is the M1 Carbine Ventilated Handguard, black metal, Choate style, for USGI-specification M1 Carbines. We have identified it as matching the design sold by Choate Machine & Tool.
Military carbines were issued with wood handguards. Vented metal handguards were a commercial accessory, marketed to shed barrel heat during rapid fire, and Choate still sells this design today. This example is unmarked, so compare it against Choate’s current product if the maker matters to you.
Included: Ventilated metal handguard only, the exact part pictured.

Condition: Light handling marks and a few small scuffs. There’s one blemish on the front right side, a scratch through the finish shown by the arrow in the photos. The vent slots are clean and the handguard is straight, with no dents.
