This is the Mossberg magazine latch, factory part R497, also catalogued as 1150.
The 152 and 352 series were fitted with a fold-down forend that doubled as a shooting rest, an unusual feature on an economy .22. The New Haven models were the same rifles sold under Mossberg’s economy brand.
