Description
- Additional information
This is the Mossberg Sear, part no. 1615, for the Mossberg 385, 390 and 395 bolt-action shotguns and for the New Haven shotguns built on the same action.
Mossberg built this family as bolt-action shotguns in three gauges — the 385 in 20, the 390 in 16 and the 395 in 12 — and the same trigger group runs through all three, so a single sear covers the range regardless of gauge. New Haven is Mossberg’s economy brand, so the 485, 490A and 495 are the same guns under a different rollmark and take the same part.
Included: One of the sears pictured. Sold individually.

Fitting: This is a fire control part and should be fitted by a gunsmith. Sear engagement is what holds the gun at full cock, and a sear that is not correctly mated to the hammer or trigger can produce a light or creeping release, failure to hold at cock, or discharge on closing the bolt. After installation, function check with dummy shells or an empty chamber before loading: verify it cocks and holds, that the trigger releases cleanly and resets, that the safety holds in both positions, and that closing and working the bolt does not release the sear.
Please note: Buyer is responsible for verifying correct fit for their specific firearm. Installation should be performed by a qualified gunsmith. Please review all photos, as they are part of the description and show the actual item you will receive.
Condition: Used sears in a matte gray steel finish, with original machining marks still visible across the flats and edges. Wear shows as light darkening and surface staining in spots, with no rust or pitting. Edges and corners are crisp, the parts are straight and true with no bends, and the pivot holes are open with no elongation.
