Description
- Additional information
This is the Ruger P85 sear, KV02217, together with the blocker lever, sear pivot bearing and both fire control springs from a P85 9mm pistol.
Ruger marked the sear and the blocker lever with an asterisk in the factory parts list: both had to be factory fitted, and both were supplied on an exchange basis only, with the replaced part kept by the factory. The P85 and P85 MKII are long out of production and the factory manual now carries a reference-only note, so salvaged fire control parts are the practical supply.
Included:
- Sear, KV02217
- Blocker Lever, KV02100
- Sear Pivot Bearing, KV05750
- Sear Spring, V04300
- Blocker Lever Spring, V01900
The five parts pictured, sold as a set. The sear pivot pin, KV04450, is not included.
Fits:
- Ruger P85: all five parts
- Ruger P85 MKII: sear, blocker lever and sear pivot bearing only
Does not fit:
- Ruger P85 MKII springs. The MKII uses sear spring KV04350 and blocker lever spring KV01950.
- Ruger P89, P90, P93, P94, P944 and P95 blocker lever. Those pistols use KV02112, which Ruger lists as not for the P85.
Ruger’s parts list for the decocker P89, P93, P94 and P944 shows this same sear number, KV02217, with the P90 using KQ02217. We have not bench-verified that interchange, so match against your own sear before you order.
Fitting: These are fire control parts and are not drop-in. Have a gunsmith fit and time them, then function check the pistol with dummy rounds before loading it. Watch for doubling, hammer follow as the slide closes, and failure of the trigger to reset. Verify that the safety decocks the hammer, holds in both positions, and that the pistol does not fire when the safety is returned to

fire. Separately, and unrelated to these parts, P85 pistols made between 1987 and 1990 were subject to a free Ruger safety modification; a converted pistol is stamped MKIIR on a safety lever.
Please note: Buyer is responsible for verifying correct fit for their specific firearm. Installation should be performed by a qualified gunsmith. Please review all photos, as they are part of the description and show the actual item you will receive.
Condition: Used, with an even matte gray finish and the original casting texture still visible. No rust, pitting or chips. Both spring legs are straight and the coils even with no set. The pressed pivot bushing is intact and seated, its bore round and clean. Bright contact wear on the cross pin ends and working faces. Levers straight and true, all pieces captured and properly assembled.
