This is the S&W J-Frame Cylinder Stop with an unfitted .090″ ball, fitting all Smith & Wesson J-frame revolvers built from 1957 to 1988.
The cylinder stop sits in the frame below the cylinder and indexes it for each shot, so it is the part that determines whether the chamber lines up with the bore. The ball is the raised surface at the top that drops into the cylinder notch, and it is stock that gets fitted during installation rather than a finished dimension. This one is unfitted and carries more material on the ball than the part-worked stops we list, so a gunsmith has full stock to work to your individual gun rather than starting from someone else’s fit.

Does not fit K, L, N or X frame revolvers, which use their own cylinder stops.
Fitting: This is a lockup and timing part, and the ball requires fitting, so it is work for a qualified gunsmith. Once fitted, cycle the action slowly in single and double action and confirm the cylinder locks into each notch before the hammer falls, with no rotational play at the moment of lockup. If the cylinder is still free to move when the hammer drops, stop and have it checked before firing.

Condition: Unfitted. Full original blue with no wear to bright anywhere — the ball, the nose and the bearing faces all carry finish, so this stop has never been fitted or run in a gun. Some surface staining and a little light freckling on the flats from storage, no rust, no pitting. The pivot hole is clean and round, the ball is full and unworked, the nose is sharp and unchipped, and the part is straight with no bend.
